Black Spark Cultural Centre is an experimental, collaborative project which fosters creativity in absurd and uncertain times. Founded by a group of friends (artists, musicians, activists and tradespeople), Black Spark operates as a volunteer-run gathering place with a library/bookshop, art gallery and event space. We’ve successfully created a welcoming and supportive space for the community without barriers of cost. Our art, music and literary events are funded by a pay-by-ability system, so no one is turned away. We pride ourselves on being one of the few spaces of this nature in so-called Melbourne. Take that late-stage capitalism!
