Events and Ticketing

Booking Fees and Taxes

With the exception of digital events, a $4.95 per transaction booking fee will be applied to all bookings online or over the phone.

Booking fees for pre-ticketed digital events are 50 cents per ticket.

Any discounted ticket offer only applies to the ticket price, not the booking fee.

Any ticket purchases and all booking fees are inclusive of GST, where applicable.

Exchanges and refunds

No refunds are available unless a performance is cancelled, re-scheduled or significantly re-located (and you cannot or do not wish to attend the re-scheduled or re-located event), and a refund is requested.

Refunds for tickets purchased by credit card will be refunded to that credit card. Tickets purchased by cash, cheque or EFTPOS will be refunded by direct EFT deposit. Auxiliary expenses incurred by you in connection with your attendance or non-attendance at an event, including a cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated event, will not be refunded.

Exchanges are only permitted to another performance of the same event, subject to availability.

Any exchanges must be made at the original point of sale and will be subject to exchange fees.

Where an exchange is made to a less expensive ticket type or performance date, the price difference will not be refunded. Where an exchange is made to a ticket type or performance date of equal or greater value any additional cost plus the exchange fee must be paid at the time of the exchange.

No exchanges are available within 24 hours of the performance time.


Holders of valid concession cards are eligible for concession price tickets: Student card (full-time), MEAA membership card, Carer Card, Health Care Card, Pension Card, Veterans Affairs Card, all government-issued Seniors Cards. You may be asked to show your valid concession card when purchasing or collecting your tickets and/or on entering the venue. Concession prices are not applicable on all events or performances.

Some events will offer discounts for booking multiple tickets. The number in brackets next to ‘Group’ indicates how big your group needs to be in order to qualify for the group discount. Prices listed are per ticket. Group prices are not applicable on all events or performances.

Children under 2 (Babes-in-arms)

Unless otherwise specified, children under the age of two do not need a ticket. Please note this means children will need to sit on your lap as they will not have a seat. Please be mindful of the show’s content when taking along a small child. Please note, babes-in-arms are not allowed entry to any events that are specified 18+.


Any advertised discounts apply to full price tickets only and cannot be redeemed on Cheap Tuesday or Preview performances.

Fringe Dwellers

The Fringe Dweller 25% off ticket offer is only available on selected events and is limited to two tickets per performance. The offer is only applicable on full priced tickets and cannot be redeemed on Cheap Tuesday or Preview performances. Melbourne Fringe reserves the right to make alterations to the Fringe Dweller scheme without prior notice.

Accessibility and Companion Cards

All ticketed events accept Companion Cards. To book a companion ticket using your companion card, please contact Melbourne Fringe on (03) 9660 9666 or boxoffice@melbournefringe.com.au.

Conditions of Entry

Upon entry to the venue ticketholders agree to be photographed for promotional use of Melbourne Fringe. It is also a condition of entry to a performance that no recording or photographic devices are used. Including mobile phones, which must be switched off prior to the beginning of the performance. Your fellow audience members and performer will be delighted by your manners.


Ticket purchased online are melbournefringe.com.au will be issued as E-Tickets. This requires customers to have a valid email address. Please ensure you have checked your spam folder if you have not received the tickets to your inbox. E-Tickets can be printed or presented at the venue on a smart phone or tablet. If printed, please ensure that the QR code is clear and able to be scanned. Ticket barcodes should be kept securely and treated like cash.

Latecomer Policy

Venue and Front of House staff reserve the right to admit latecomers only if there is a suitable moment in the performance. Management reserves the right to refuse admission; this policy is to prevent disruption to other patrons and the performance.

Melbourne Fringe and Live Performance Australia

Melbourne Fringe issues tickets in accordance with the Live Performance Australia (LPA) Ticketing Code of Practice. For a copy of the LPA Ticketing Code for consumers please click here.


If you are unsure if a payment has gone through, please contact Melbourne Fringe Ticketing boxoffice@melbournefringe.com.au or call 9660 9666 before attempting to pay again. Melbourne Fringe reserves the right to not provide refunds if payment has been successful. If payment has been unsuccessful, we can happily help you secure your tickets.

Melbourne Fringe accepts ONLY Visa and Mastercard for online and phone sales.

Ticket Resale

Tickets may not, without prior written consent from Melbourne Fringe, be resold at a premium, offered as a prize or used for advertising or other promotional use. A ticket purchased from a reseller does not guarantee you entry to the event.

Show content

Unless a performance is categorised as a children or family show content may not be suitable for all ages. For more information on show content please visit the specific performance’s page on our website.

Under 18 policy

Common Rooms is a licensed venue and as such is open to those 18 and over only, unless otherwise specified. You may be requested to show identification when attending events listed as 18+ and may be refused entry if you are unable to provide valid ID.

Terms of Sale

Please read these Terms of Sale prior to purchasing a ticket for any event presented in the Melbourne Fringe Festival program. By purchasing a ticket to a Melbourne Fringe event, you are agreeing to these Terms of Sale.

Conditions of purchase

  1. The ticket cannot be returned or refunded after purchase except as provided for in the LPA Code of Practice for Event Ticketing.
  2. The right is reserved to add, withdraw or substitute artists, performers or events, vary ticket prices, and/or vary advertised programmes, seating arrangements and audience capacity.
  3. The right of admission is reserved by the venue and/or entrepreneur and/or its agent. Late arrival may result in non-admission.
  4. It may be a condition of entry to individual events that a search of person and/or their possessions will be required at the time of the entry to the venue.
  5. Entry may be refused if tickets are damaged or defaced in any way or are not purchased from Melbourne Fringe or other authorised points of sale.
  6. Professional cameras, video cameras and other recording devices are not permitted.
  7. If other conditions apply, they are displayed either in the box office or near the entrance to the venue.
  8. By purchasing a ticket, attending an event or otherwise dealing with Melbourne Fringe, you agree to be bound by the Melbourne Fringe privacy policy.  A copy of the privacy policy can be viewed here.
  9. These Terms of Sale are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
Digital Events

Conditions of attending digital events on the Melbourne Fringe website or external platforms

  1. The User agrees that they are responsible for ensuring they have access to any third-party platforms on which the event may be hosted, including access to a compatible internet browser and secure internet connection.
  2. The User undertakes that they will not photograph, film or record digital events unless their informed written consent is obtained. The User acknowledges that any consent form should contain detailed information about the proposed collection, use and disclosure of participants images or recordings.  
  3. The User acknowledges that if they choose to make their camera available during a digital event, they are agreeing to the participants within the event being able to access their image, surroundings, and audio.  
  4. The User acknowledges that Melbourne Fringe will take measures to secure the Melbourne Fringe website from the illegal accessing or recording of content however claims no responsibility for the pirated recording or illegitimate viewing of digital events hosted on the Melbourne Fringe website.
  5. The User agrees that they will not engage with digital events hosted on the Melbourne Fringe website  in a manner that is likely to incite in a reasonable participant: hatred against, or serious contempt for, or severe ridicule of, a group of persons because of age, ethnicity, nationality, race, gender, sexuality, religion, or disability.
  6. The User agrees that they are responsible for reading and adhering to the terms and conditions of any third-party platform on which the digital event may be hosted including but not limited to Zoom, YouTube, Skype, Twitch and Vimeo
  7. The User agrees that event links for pre-ticketed digital events are unique to the ticket purchaser and must not be shared more times than tickets purchased.

Foyer Chat Terms and Conditions

Some digital events hosted on Melbourne Fringe’s website or external platforms contain an audience “Foyer Chat” that can be accessed on the Melbourne Fringe website before, during and after the event.

  1. These Terms are to be read in conjunction with Minnit Chat’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, as well as the Melbourne Fringe Privacy Policy, and Melbourne Fringe’s Information Privacy Principles.
  2. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated on FringeChat. Below area list of actions the user is not permitted to undertake while using FringeChat; 
    • The user is not to engage in any form of speech that incites hatred or violence towards an individual person or group of peoples.
    • The use of profane or derogatory language is prohibited.
    • The user is not to upload explicit content in the form of images, GIFs, emojis.
    • The user is not to upload links to explicit content or websites.
    • The user is not to upload links to malicious software or websites.
  3. The consequences of breaching the above clauses will result in a ban from using FringeChat.
