Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

This agreement creates a contractual relationship between Melbourne Fringe (ABN 41 006 125 515) of Level 1, Corner Lygon & Victoria Streets, Carlton, 3053 (Melbourne Fringe) and the individual/company who attends an event (Event) hosted by Melbourne Fringe (the Participant).

IMPORTANT: in accordance with the Victorian Health Order all patrons aged 16 years and over must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All ticket holders will be required to provide proof of vaccination upon entry. The easiest way to do this is by adding your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service Victoria app – click here for instructions.

Melbourne Fringe events are conducted in accordance with the Victorian Government’s COVID-19 restrictions. All attendees must comply with any COVID-19 safety protocols as directed by the venue or the Victorian Government.

Every attendee to in-person events must check in via the Victorian Government’s Service Victoria QR Code check-in service to assist with COVID-19 contact tracing. This information is stored by Service Victoria and is subject to their privacy policy (which can be viewed here). Venue staff may refuse entry or evict a ticket holder if they refuse to provide the necessary contact information required for contact tracing.

If you are feeling unwell, showing symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), awaiting a COVID-19 test result or have otherwise been directed to self-isolate or quarantine you must not attend the Festival.  Please contact boxoffice@melbournefringe.com.au prior to the event, with at least 24 hours’ notice, to organise a refund or an exchange to another performance of the same event (subject to availability) or refund if an exchange is not possible. No refunds or exchanges will be offered if you are refused entry to a venue for not adhering to the COVID-19 check-in or other safety requirements.

If events are cancelled for reasons relating to COVID-19 we will be in touch with ticketholders regarding their options, including a full refund. Refunds may take up to 28 days to process.

If an event requires a reduction in capacity due to altered government restrictions, refunds and/or exchanges will be processed in reverse order based on transaction date. Ticket holders will be notified as soon as practicable.

You can read our COVID-Safe Plan here. For more information, see https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.

Booking Fees and Taxes

All bookings are by VISA or Mastercard credit/debit card only and attract a $4.95 fee per transaction (not per ticket). Tickets purchased on the door do not attract a booking fee, nor do transactions where only digital and/or free tickets are booked.

Any discounted ticket offer only applies to the ticket price, not the booking fee.

Any ticket purchases and all booking fees are inclusive of GST, where applicable.

No refunds are available unless a performance is cancelled, re-scheduled or significantly re-located (and you cannot or do not wish to attend the re-scheduled or relocated event), or in accordance with our COVID Safe plan.

Refunds for tickets purchased by credit card will be refunded to that credit card. Tickets purchased by cash, cheque or EFTPOS will be refunded by direct EFT deposit. Auxiliary expenses incurred by you in connection with your attendance or non-attendance at an event, including a cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated event, will not be refunded.

Exchanges are only permitted to another performance of the same event, subject to availability.

Any exchanges must be made at the original point of sale and will be subject to exchange fees unless the exchange is as a result of complying with COVID safe practises or government health directives.

Where an exchange is made to a less expensive ticket type or performance date, the price difference will not be refunded. Where an exchange is made to a ticket type or performance date of equal or greater value any additional cost plus the exchange fee must be paid at the time of the exchange.

Exchanges must be requested at least 24 hours in advance of the performance time.

Holders of valid concession cards are eligible for concession price tickets: Student card (full-time), MEAA membership card, Carer Card, Health Care Card, Pension Card, Veterans Affairs Card, all government-issued Seniors Cards. You may be asked to show your valid concession card when purchasing or collecting your tickets and/or on entering the venue. Concession prices are not applicable on all events or performances.

Some events will offer discounts for booking multiple tickets. The number in brackets next to ‘Group’ indicates how big your group needs to be in order to qualify for the group discount. Prices listed are per ticket. Group prices are not applicable on all events or performances.

Children under 2 (Babes-in-arms)

Unless otherwise specified, children under the age of two do not need a ticket. Please note this means children will need to sit on your lap (for in-person events) as they will not have a seat. Please be mindful of the show’s content when taking along a small child. Please note, babes-in-arms are not allowed entry to any events that are specified 18+.

Any advertised discounts apply to full price tickets only and cannot be redeemed on Cheap Tuesday or Preview performances.

Fringe Dwellers

The Fringe Dweller 25% off ticket offer is only available on selected events and is limited to two tickets per performance. The offer is only applicable on full priced tickets and cannot be redeemed on Cheap Tuesday or Preview performances. Melbourne Fringe reserves the right to make alterations to the Fringe Dweller scheme without prior notice.

Conditions of Entry

If attending a venue, all current Government directives and COVID safe requirements MUST be met. Venue staff may refuse entry or evict a ticket holder if they refuse to comply with reasonable directions of the event organiser that are reasonably required to provide a safe event (including but not limited to: completing QR code check ins, wearing masks; temperature checks; general questioning etc.). Please click here for more information.

Upon entry to a venue, ticketholders agree to be captured by photography or video for promotional use of Melbourne Fringe. It is also a condition of entry to a performance that no recording or photographic devices are used. Including mobile phones, which must be switched off prior to the beginning of the performance. Your fellow Participants and performer/artists will be delighted by your manners.

Ticket purchased online at melbournefringe.com.au will be issued as E-Tickets. This requires customers to have a valid email address. Please ensure you have checked your spam folder if you have not received the tickets to your inbox. For in person events, E-Tickets can be printed or presented at the venue on a smart phone or tablet. If printed, please ensure that the QR code is clear and able to be scanned. Ticket barcodes should be kept securely and treated like cash. For Digital Fringe events, your E-Ticket will contain a link(s) to the digital event page of the performance(s) you have booked for. You will need to log in to the Melbourne Fringe website in order to access this page. You are permitted to share this link only with any other audience members you have booked tickets for.

Latecomer Policy

Venue and Front of House staff reserve the right to admit latecomers only if there is a suitable moment in the performance. Management reserves the right to refuse admission; this policy is to prevent disruption to other patrons and the performance. This policy also applies to scheduled events on Digital Fringe. Arriving later than the advertised start time may result in you missing the start of the session and replays will not be available. Refunds will not be permitted in this circumstance. We recommend arriving 30 minutes early to ensure your technical set-up is working and to allow time to ask for assistance if required.

Melbourne Fringe and Live Performance Australia

Melbourne Fringe issues tickets in accordance with the Live Performance Australia (LPA) Ticketing Code of Practice, including the most recent COVID Safe guidelines. For a copy of the LPA Ticketing Code for consumers please click here.

If you are unsure if a payment has gone through, please contact Melbourne Fringe Ticketing on boxoffice@melbournefringe.com.au or call (03) 9660 9666 before attempting to pay again. Melbourne Fringe reserves the right to not provide refunds if payment has been successful. If payment has been unsuccessful, we can happily help you secure your tickets.

Melbourne Fringe accepts ONLY Visa and Mastercard for online, phone and in-person sales.

Ticket Resale

Tickets may not, without prior written consent from Melbourne Fringe, be resold at a premium, offered as a prize or used for advertising or other promotional use. A ticket purchased from a reseller does not guarantee you entry to the event.
