We're moving to Trades Hall!

That’s right! The People’s Palace is Fringe’s glorious new democratic space.

We’ll be moving our Festival Hub and Club to Trades Hall, one of Melbourne’s most iconic buildings, and we’ll also be opening a year-round licensed venue there, dedicated to supporting the independent arts sector.

Located smack-bang in Melbourne’s centre, the Festival’s new civic heart will be home to a quarter of our 400+ annual events following fresh renovations and restoration. This includes the installation of internal lifts so the newly revamped Trades Hall will be accessible to welcome our entire Fringe community.

Here’s what you can expect at our new digs:

An incredible Festival Hub and Club, a year-round licensed venue dedicated to supporting the independent arts (party time, all the time), and staff offices for one big happy Fringe family. We’re literally making a hall a home.

This Festival, we’ll also be working with several Major Venues across Melbourne so there will be places you can soak up the Fringe vibes right across our city.

There have been some big things in the history of Fringe. There’s been the Parade, the Waiter’s Race, the Spencer Tunick photos, Fringe Fashion, the North Melbourne Hub, artworks by Lou Bennett, Barrie Kosky, Stephanie Lake, Stelarc, Hannah Gadsby, Simon Stone, Christos Tsiolkas, Gideon Obarzanek and a whole lot more.

This is a game changer for us. We can’t wait to play with you – during the Festival and all year round.

See you at Trades Hall – our home for the next chapter.
