(I'm Going To Die In This Bracket)

A meandering, maybe-biographical, makeshift magnus opus on all things monetary.

  • Created and Performed by: Cathy Hunt & Shannon Loughnane

Am I really bad with money, or is money bad with me? Is it possible to simply declare yourself an ill-fit for capitalism? How can we effect an escape from the oldest prison on earth: MONEY, HONEY!!!

In their new work, theatre-makers and housemates Cathy Hunt and Shannon Loughnane – too povvo to get a real venue – invite you into their home for a mediation on all things monetary. Erratically cycling through personas of the nouveau riche and rags-to-riches showbiz dames, spilling true confessions of self check-out sleight-of-hand, Hunt and Loughnane explore the shifts and compromises they've made in their lifelong tango with capitalism.

Examining ideas of worth, investment, transaction, debt, productivity and value, (I’m Going To Die In This Bracket) sees the artists expose their own poverty in embarrassing detail in order to reconfigure their relationship to money and necessity. Sharing their own cash – of which there is very little – the artists plot a rebellion against their reliance on industrialised affirmation and burn conventional definitions of worth to the ground. Forever!
