My name is Krishna and I am a performance artist. I am also wanting to have a baby with my partner, Logan, and we need your help!
In order to have that baby, we must find a sperm donor. It made me start to think of all the different qualities I may want in our donor. When you go on sperm bank websites, the qualities listed are things like height, race, eye colour and whether or not they have PHDs, but we don’t really care about those things.
Instead, a lot of the questions I had for these donors were about the qualities I tend to care about in people — beyond genetics — that you don’t find on sperm donor websites.
Do these things even matter in a donor? I’m still not sure!
That’s where we need YOUR help!
Whether sperm donation is something you’re interested in or not, I am conducting 10-minute conversations live on stage, with as many people as I can, in order to learn more about the kind of person I want to help me get pregnant.
As long as you are over 18
In order for Krishna to get closer to finding their donor, we are looking for people with sperm to sign up. However, if you don’t have sperm but feel your experience or knowledge will add to the breadth of conversation it’s also possible to take part.
As well as a quest to find a sperm donor this show is also, of course, an artistic and social experiment, one that allows Krishna to create a dialogue around trans reproductive healthcare in a creative way. Therefore, we are keen to engage with as many different people as possible.

Step 1: Fill Out Form
You fill out this quick form to express your interest. Melbourne Fringe will then reach out to schedule a Zoom in August with one of our friendly participation team members. We will ask if you have any access requirements so that we can do our best to support you through the process.
Step 2: Zoom Chat in August
During the Zoom, you can ask any questions you may have about the process and we will tell you more about what is expected of you on the day. We will also be asking for your availability during the run of the show between October 16th and 18th, 2025. This zoom will take no more than 15 minutes of your time.
Step 3: Email
As we are looking for a range of diverse participants, we will get in touch with you soon after the zoom to let you know if you’ve been selected. This email will also contain information about logistics of the show date.
Step 4: Show Day & On-Stage Chat
On the day of the show, you turn up at your allotted time slot. The conversation with Krishna on stage will last for 10 minutes. The atmosphere is very informal, and we see it as just two people having a chat, albeit on a stage!
Step 5: Post-Chat
After your chat with Krishna, you will leave the stage and meet a member of our team to check in about your experience. After which, you will be free to leave.

All conversations will be filmed. It is being filmed as part of the live show and for future use. This show is part of a trilogy of performance pieces (FIRST TRIMESTER, SECOND TRIMESTER, and THIRD TRIMESTER) spanning the next five years or so. The aim was always for a documentary to be made at the end of this process because Krishna found that when they looked for resources on how to navigate getting pregnant as a trans person, there was a real lack of resources out there. For this reason, Krishna and their partner, Logan, are producing a series of documentaries about their experience in the hopes that it might help other queer and trans people thinking about creating a family.
Every conversation will be filmed for the artistic purposes of the show. This footage will be retained for future use and will be stored with your permission. If you are selected to appear in future documentaries, your identity will be anonymised by not disclosing your name or any other identifiable information.
However, not all conversations will be showcased in future documentaries, and you have the option to decline being included. Please don’t hesitate to discuss this with the participation team during your Zoom call.
Krishna is a performance artist, comedian, theatre maker, and screenwriter based in London, who creates socially conscious, form-pushing works about taboo or underrepresented experiences of gender, race and sexual politics. Krishna is also a trans person looking to get pregnant and start a family. You can find out more about Krishna’s work here and here.
When Krishna and their partner, Logan, initially started talking about having a baby, as trans people, they couldn’t find a lot of information to help them through the process. They realised there was a real lack of research and resources that were publicly available to the trans community. Culturally and politically, a rise in anti-trans rhetoric in the UK and the world at large, fuelled by media and government, provides ever greater challenges for trans people looking to create a family through methods that require medical intervention.
Therefore, in a concrete way, they hoped this show—albeit a DIY and creative response to baby-making—can help other trans people and act as a resource in the future. The aim was to put a common queer negotiation under stage lights and illuminate the experience of those who cannot traditionally conceive.

M/OTHERHOOD PROJECT is a trilogy of performance pieces including FIRST TRIMESTER, SECOND TRIMESTER, and THIRD TRIMESTER, spanning an unknown number of years to come, mirroring Krishna’s journey into m/otherhood from a trans perspective.
Each participant taking part will have an initial meeting with one of the participation team so we can tell you more about the project. You are given the option to opt out at any point in the process, including during your interview on stage. Additionally, we are keen to have participants across a wide range of ages, races, cultures, genders and demographics. You will be notified after your interview whether you have been selected or not.
No, although there are limited slots for people without sperm so you will more likely be chosen to take part if you have an existing relationship to the subject matter or particular contribution you want to make. For example, someone who has been through a donor process before.
No, there is no donation of sperm done during this show. After your conversation on stage, if Krishna and their partner are keen to continue to speak with you, and if you are happy to potentially continue the conversation with them, then you will chat privately, outside the context of this public show. Even then, there is no obligation to donate sperm at any point, unless it is mutually agreed that you will be the donor after many chats.
All participants will be offered in-person wellbeing support with trained therapists on the day of the show. All participants will be offered refreshments (hot & cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches) and a thank you gift on the day as well.
We can cover travel costs for participants (from within the city where the show is taking place) who find travel costs prohibitive to taking part – please let us know if you need this during your Zoom or at any point in the process by emailing firsttrimester@melbournefringe.com.au or calling 03 9660 9600 and asking for Harriet or Peta.
