Ned Kelly: the Big Gay Musical

The outlawed Kelly Gang are fighting to establish the Queerdom of Slaytoria!

  • Written and Directed by: Kaine!

  • Produced by: Sunny Youngsmith

The outlawed Kelly Gang are fighting to establish the Queerdom of Slaytoria but Victoria Police are hot on the gang's tail. Join The Kelly Gang as they fight for what’s right and destroy their colonialist overlords.

Things get King-ky in this return season after a near sold out run of “unbridled fun” at Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2023. Written and directed by Kaine, “a comedian on the rise”, this queer re-telling of Australia’s most infamous bushrangers is an all original, flaps-to-the-wall Drag King extravaganza. Ned Kelly and his gang of hawt men are ready to take down British Colonialism all whilst being the butchest as butch can be.

The ensemble cast of five “set the stage on fire” (Ellen Marning, Erin McIntosh, Monique Kerr, Sian Dowler, and Sunny Youngsmith) sliding on their trouser packers for the first time. They will no doubt leave you drooling over their “entertaining and alluring” queer masc-ness. The show’s live four-piece band, ‘The Glen Rowans’, will accompany their explorations of gender and sexuality in a heteronormative and colonialist society with songs such as ‘We Put The Bush In Ranger’, ‘Terrorist or Fabulous’, and ‘The Little Gay Man at the End of the Rainbow’.

This “piece of queer joy is an important and unmissable” show in this year’s Fringe Festival!

No Aussie legend is safe, not even the bearded ones!
