JOYRIDE

A live road movie staged in the front seat of a 1985 Beamer with physical theatre, dance & comedy.

  • Written by: Anna Lumb

  • Performed by: Anna Lumb and DANDROGYNY

  • : Maude Davey and Rebecca Church

A lift home after a gig turns into an emotional joyride through a surreal landscape, speed-bumped with revelation, road rage and humour.

Critically acclaimed Variety Artist, Anna Lumb and Drag Icon DANDROGYNY navigate the tiny space in the front seat of a beat up Beamer in a road trip that veers from dark comedy to playful absurdity.

'Joyride' is the bastard child of 'Thelma and Louise' and ‘Wild at Heart’, reimagining the road movie as a voyeuristic live experience with a combination of physical skill, text and dance.

Private parts press up against the windshield as secrets are flung out of the windows. Test driving the potential of the car as a stage, this 45 minute performance is a prototype in the development of a new hybrid physical theatre and live artwork.
