A House of This and That

A silly, irreverant homage to theatre ushering and the restlessness of the creative mind.

A tall woman in her mid-twenties with long brown hair wears a white shirt and black brogues, trousers, waistcoat, and necktie. She is standing leant against the back of a row of seats in a red and gold themed heritage musical theatre venue. Her body is facing the back of the auditorium, away from a stage. Her left hand is braced against the top of a chair behind her, and her right hand is on her hip. She is looking up to her right, into the spotlight that falls over her, and the bright light over-illuminates her shirt, hair, and face. She is wearing a neutral expression. She is the only person visible in the auditorium.

Dissociation is a vital skill for a theatre usher, and Robbie has it down to a science. She's got the whole first act to retreat into the garden of her mind. If only she could banish the hourglass-shaped intrusion of her supervisor from said garden.

A House of This and That is one veteran usher's love letter to the art of front of house, where the drama doesn't need a stage.
