Gemz Creative Arts presents - Unpacking Black and White - an original multimedia enactment of the reading of poems written by Dr. Puva P Arumugam from her book Black and White - A Collection of Poems II.

Dr. Puva P Arumugam, a multilingual migrant playwright/poet, is inviting you to join her on an online journey where you get to listen, watch, and feel her emotions as she captures real scenarios that happened in her life via enactments and installation art depicting cultural context. Her poems will bring topics such as migrant guilt, loneliness and mental health and wellbeing to the fore.

As Gemz Creative Arts is keen to feature diasporic artistes and be a platform for migrant artistes, this performance will also feature the music of Mr Poly Verghese who is a renowned Indian musician and actor trained in Indian classical music and stage acting. He will also be part of the enactments that accompany the readings of the poems.

About Gemz Creative Arts

Dr Puvaneswari (Puva) P Arumugam is a Singaporean Indian woman who migrated to Australia nearly two and half decades ago. Puva is an author, playwright, and poet. With a PhD in Theatre and Cultural Studies, she has written and published a range of publication across several genres. She has also staged and directed several of her plays in Australia and Singapore. Puva is currently the Artistic and Creative Director of Gemz Creative Arts, a Melbourne based Creative Arts Company.
