About Mari Trees

Mari Trees (MT) was born to a concert pianist and a social activist opera junky.
She decided early on to do whatever it takes to stop Gilbert & Sullivan permeating her brain, trying very hard to not become a musician. However, fate would have it that pianos continued to fall in front of her. She’s lucky to be alive!
Having escaped to remote regions of the world to steep deep into the musical traditions of West Africa, West Coast Ireland and the West Wing of Adelaide University's Elder Con Jazz School, MT continues to be obsessed with the nuts and bolts of music; writing and recreating in blues, soul, folk and world genres.
Through piano, percussion, guitar and vocals, MT delivers a raw sound that is compelling and original, providing homage to the early blues musicians.
