The image is close up of a person with short dark hair, singing joyfully. He is wearing a dark suit jacket over a white shirt. A round badge is pinned to his jacket, though the text on it is not fully legible. The background is softly blurred, featuring what appears to be vertical blinds and some indoor plants.
The image shows two people in a warmly lit room. To the left, the person is dressed in a dark suit and white shirt, and is singing passionately. To the right, a person is sitting at a piano, smiling, with their hands on the keys. In the background, there is a gold sequin curtain and a lamp with a yellow shade.

The Big Sing Your Heart Out is an experience where everyone who comes along will join in the raucous, playful, heartfelt singing. No experience or skill required. The words are on a big screen, the legend Suzanne Andrews is playing the piano and the regular weekly Sing Your Heart Out Crew are in the room, singing big and bringing the good vibes.

Join us as we belt out favourites from across the generations, have a laugh and take the opportunity to sing with our hearts on our sleeves. Every voice is welcome, from first time singers to professionals.

What will we sing?

Songs with a great hook that you’ve sung at the top of your voice in the shower or on a road trip with a friend. The kind of songs that make you want to move, or express your ‘teenage angst’, or ballads that remind you of what it is like to fall in love, or out of love... or songs that make you feel good about the world.

I love creating experiences where people get to have fun and feel connected to each other. Last year I started a weekly ‘sing-a-long’ group called Sing Your Heart Out. It’s been running all year and is a blast. The Big Sing Your Heart Out takes this weekly singing and shares the magic!

I’ve got years of experience leading groups (as a teacher, facilitator and performer), I’ve worked across the Asia Pacific as a dance theatre performer, studied the Alexander Technique and voice, and am a qualified Alexander Technique teacher. I have performed for companies big and small across Australia, been the recipient of a Green Room Award (Best ensemble – KAGE physical theatre) and won an award for my last show in the Melbourne Fringe Festival (Best Live Art).

With the Big Sing Your Heart Out I’m excited to take my mix of experienced performer, confident group facilitator and curious musician to lead you to sing your heart out and rediscover the joy of singing in a group.

About Luke Hockley

Luke Hockley - I’m a Maker, Mover, Teacher and Performer.

I write, draw, sing, dance, tell stories and make live theatre.

I want the things I make to inspire people to believe they can create the kind of world they want to live in.

For example, Campfire is a family concert where everyone is family. It happens on the first Saturday of the month. It is a performance created by artists and audiences to celebrate, share knowledge and create lasting community connections.
And Sing Your Heart Out is a community singing group (you can call it a choir, but it’s so relaxed, a sing-a-long is a much better description) I’ve created where we belt out favourites from across the generations, have a laugh and take the opportunity to sing with our hearts on our sleeves.

I trained as an acrobat when I was a kid. Then went to University and became a dancer and actor and teacher. I worked as a dancer for many years, won a Greenroom Award (Kage – Headlock, best ensemble), worked with some great people and organisations (Danceworks, Kage, Buzz Dance Theatre, Dancehouse, Expressions Dance Company). I then studied graphic design and then I trained as an Alexander Technique teacher. Now I make work that invites people to think about how we might respond to the important social issues of our time and I use the performing arts to build connections and create belonging.
