Created by Kate Cameron and Olivia Staaf in collaboration with a team of artists and ecologists, Close to Home is a curated performance blending immersive storytelling and science communication.

Exploring the fragility of the social and biological ecosystems we inhabit and construct for ourselves, this site-responsive performance guides audiences through sensory activations full of nostalgia and provocation.
Featuring a teenager who finds solace with elephants, the inherited choreography of a western lowlands gorilla, and a ritual pledge to the earth, this work finds unexpected connections in times of displacement.

Drawing on observations from visits to the zoo and inspired by stories of resilience and hope amidst the climate crisis, Close to Home asks us what it means to make ourselves at home.

This project received Cash for Equity through the Fringe Fund, as part of the Ralph Mclean Microgrants program

    Wheelchair Access

    Festival Hub: Trades Hall - The Square is wheelchair accessible. The entrance to the venue is on Lygon St. You will need to go to the meeting point in the courtyard. Please head to the driveway located on the left-hand side of the main entrance on Lygon Street. The driveway will lead you into the courtyard. From the courtyard, our volunteers will take you to the Square, which has step-free access.
