A three-panel room-divider screen is backlit with pink and purple light. A shadow of a cane chair is cast on the screen. A painted cardboard woman with red wavy hair leans out from the side of the screen and reveals her red stiletto at the bottom.
A small old lady puppet is looking down as she sits on a silver walking frame. She is wearing a white nightie and blue slippers with short yellow socks. Behind her is a bed covered with a red and white-flowers bedspread

Nora is old, frail, and well, she lives in aged-care. She's not entirely happy about that! Humour and heartfelt reflection drive this emotional journey, with puppetry and song.

About Bonkel Theatre

Bonkel Theatre is the collaborative partnership of Melbourne artists Katrina Gaskell and Enio Pozzebon. They joined forces in 2017 to combine their extensive maker and musician skills. Add to that a slap of humour, a dash of quirkiness, and land in the devised world of Bonkel Theatre. Together they make work that has music and puppetry at its core that is playful and vibrant in its heart. They explore ideas that are local and everyday to create work that resonates with a diverse audience base. From stories about a stolen bike to an old lady in a nursing home, works by Bonkel Theatre span quite the range from giant to intimate, rollicking to reflective. Since forming they have performed in and around Melbourne and regional Victoria.
