About Speakeasy Theatre
Dirk Strachan-Thornton has been performing in theatre for 20 years starting at the National Institute of Youth Performing Arts. After graduating High School he was cast in the Matt Byrne Media touring production of "The Producers" as a last minute selection to play the role of Carmen Ghia, spring-boarding his theatrical career immediately. He then went on to star in productions such as "The Wedding Singer", Eurobeat, Monty Python's Spamalot, Oliver!, Avenue Q, Shopping and F***ing, Compleat Female Stage Beauty (Australian Premiere), Dusty - The Original Pop Diva, Hairspray, Les Miserables, and highlights such as The Phantom of The Opera, AIDA with Opera Australia, The Woman In Black - Sutherland Theatre, and recently appeared in The Scarlet Pimpernel as Elton, earning him 2 Victorian Music Theatre Guild Award Nominations for Best performance in a supporting role and Best Costume Design. In Television, Dirk was cast in Season 1 of "The Traitors" for Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia. Festivals: "HOLLYWOOD" - The Peg Entwistle Story for Misdumma HufflePoof premiered at the 2024 Midsumma Festival and after a hugely successful run, it is returning for Fringe 2024.
