'Borrow a Brick for Contact Listening' activates moments and encounters around Abbotsford Convent created by artist Joy Zhou, collaborators and community. Through a site-responsive and public practice, this project presents collective dialogues as a disruptive force troubling prescribed norms and binaries in public spaces.

The project is made with site-specific materials and simple sound-making devices such as a contact microphone, allowing you to experience vibrancies embodied in objects and their materiality.

Go for a wander through the historic grounds, explore the architectural site of the Convent, and encounter sonic and textual works in this original public art program. With active listening in mind, we encourage you to remain open to, and look for, overlooked voices and unexpected experiences.

Join us for the launch and special guided walk on Wednesday, 9th October, at 6pm.

This project received Cash to Create through the Fringe Fund.
