The image showcases a person with red hair, wearing a straw hat and a vintage-style white blouse with lace detailing at the collar. The expression on their face is neutral, and the photograph has an artistic effect where a brushstroke-like texture obscures parts of the face, particularly across the eyes and upper face. This adds a surreal, almost ghostly quality to the image. The backdrop is a plain, light blue or gray, which contrasts with the intricate textures and colors of the subject's clothing and hair.

A brand new work by award-winning director, writer, and producer Willem Whitfield, Primitives unfolds during an afternoon rendezvous between Van Brandt, a struggling painter, and Alice, a wealthy young heiress. Their buzzing conversation, set against a dreamlike landscape, oscillates between the profound and the farcical and back again, as the pair scrutinise the purpose of art, the intricacies of love, and the universal search for meaning in an ever-changing world. Primitives is a uniquely Australian work, which holds a mirror up to the human experience in all its messy contradictions.
