About Breakthrough Theatre

Breakthrough Theatre formed in 1994. It was a very important turning point that the proscenium theatre had not quite made its impact on the general public and no new forms had come into existence. At this time young theatre workers came up with a unique idea of stage and theatre. They chose street and proscenium arch for presentation of the plays. Breakthrough Theatre came at this period.

The objective of Breakthrough Theatre is to preserve Nepali Theatre Culture and Cultural Heritage in Nepal. For this, Breakthrough Theatre invited all theatre people over to join the talk programmes about Theatre Crisis in Nepal in 1995 and then organised a three days symposium on Past, Present and Future of Nepali Theatre in 1999 to evoke the condition of Nepali Theatre and urge Nepali theatre veteran to act for the betterment of theatre. Furthermore, Breakthrough Theatre trained different young theatre artists and implemented a month-long Theatre Expedition around Annapurna Himalayas (crossing high pass Thorong-La, 17,500 ft.) to support VNY '98 (Visit Nepal Year '98) programme in 1997.

Breakthrough Theatre always seeks to promote Nepali theatre workers and help to develop their skills
