Lovers of literature, Borges buffs, and fans of the odd and intriguing, Socrates Smith is your egghead! Socrates is having a bad day; no, he's having a bad life - and he's looking for someone to blame! Most of us blame bad luck - or our parents - when life goes to shit, but Socrates has a more specific target. He's convinced his life is being written by the most fantastical storyteller of all time: J. L. Borges!

Socrates takes us on a zany tour of his life, as he tries to untangle fact from fiction - and tangles up the audience at the same time! We get to see magical spheres and timeless mazes, learn how to write the impossible book, and get lost in an endless library. All this while we wait for Borges himself to turn up - his aeroplane from Argentina seems to be permanently circling Tullamarine!

This energetic one-man show uses witty monologue, wordplay, physical comedy, and slapstick to enter the surreal world of J. L. Borges. This absurd journey leads to insights that will change Socrates' life, and delivers an uplifting message drawn from Borges' work: be brave, be humble, and be yourself. And no, no knowledge of Borges' work is required to enjoy the show!
