Prepare to be captivated as Melbourne's vibrant puppetry scene takes centre stage once again, this time as part of the Melbourne Fringe Puppet Hub extravaganza, spanning four nights across four sensational stages. Prepare to be dazzled by a myriad of theatrical performances, from gripping stage shows to captivating roving acts that will melt your mind.

But that's not all! Introducing The Puppet Museum, a treasure trove of nostalgia and wonder. Delve into a collection of puppets from beloved TV shows, iconic films, and unforgettable special events spanning five decades. Rediscover long-lost favourites and encounter new characters that will steal your heart.

Feel the rhythm as live music fills the air, adding an extra layer of excitement and energy to the festivities. And don't worry about sustenance, as the Pirates Tavern will keep the libations flowing all night long, complemented by a fantastic array of food trucks that cater to every taste.

A Blanck Canvas believes in infinite possibilities.

Founded in 2013, we are a multi-disciplinary creative company that encourages social change and continuously leaves a lasting impact on audiences.

A Blanck Canvas founder Joe Blanck, has collected and curated a team of wondrous talent, housed in a creative super-ship in Melbourne, Australia. Joe is a talented creature designer and builder with over 20 years experience.

Specialising in large-scale roving puppets, props, sets and site-specific illuminated installations for film, theatre and major events, A Blanck Canvas has created a haven for artists, designers, builders, sculptors and creatives from all walks of life. Our end-to-end approach, including all aspects of design, fabrication, illumination, automation and performance, has seen a number of memorable installations both here in Australia and internationally.

Our team consists of talented puppet and prop-making wizards, project managers, engineers, SFX professionals, sculptors, speciality performers, costume and graphic designers.

We have recently expanded our offering and in 2020 we launched A Blanck Canvas Productions. Operating within the iconic space at Seaworks Maritime Precinct, our space ‘The Playground’, is a community arts hub for performers, puppeteers, musicians and locals to immerse themselves into A Blanck Canvas’ world. At The Playground, we hold all-ages puppet workshops, large-scale theatrical performances, community events and a hire-able blank slate for your own creative offerings.

A Blanck Canvas continues to create unique works that blend technology and artistry, transporting audiences and transforming their relationship to nature and the world around them.

Wheelchair Access

The Playground at Seaworks is wheelchair accessible.

This is an open festival style event space with occasional seating in outdoor and theatre spaces.

It's a large area but it is accessible for wheelchairs all through the event space. The performance space is an open plan space with mixed seating and standing areas. There are fixed seating, no stairs and no limitations to wheelchair seated spaces in any area.

The entire area is flat concreted flooring with some areas outdoors having astroturf on top of concrete.
