Come and dance and make masks and objects as we create playful rituals to summon Kooks and Spooks through Butoh!

Step inside an imaginative world and experience the Japanese artform of Butoh. Get ready to move, shake and make funny shapes with your body, as we jump headfirst into a world of imaginative spirits.

Renowned performance makers Yumi Umiumare and visual artist Jacqui Stockdale will guide this workshop. Suitable for children 3 -12 years but all are welcome.

About Abbotsford Convent

The Convent supports and presents diverse contemporary arts practice—we are passionate about working collaboratively with artists and in partnership with other arts and cultural organisations to attract diverse audiences, creating new conversations and ways to engage with our unique, multi-use precinct. The Convent’s non-traditional spaces encourage deep artistic investigation and provide an atmospheric setting for performance.

    Wheelchair Access

    Abbotsford Convent - Industrial School is wheelchair accessible.

    There is step-free access to the venue. Wheelchair users enter at the main entrance. There are uneven footpaths throughout the grounds.

    There are 2 two-hour accessible on-street parking spaces located on St Heliers Street, beside Gate One. There are six accessible parking places are located at the front of the car park on the northern side of St Heliers Street. There is also a car park located within a short distance of Gate One. The entrance is near a dedicated pedestrian thoroughfare and road cross over.

    There are accessible toilets at this venue, though not all toilet doors are automatic.
