Inspired by images of sunbathers on Phuket Beach a day after the 2004 tsunami, Holiday is a quiet contemplation of life’s catastrophic events, performed by acclaimed British/Australian actors Richard Pyros and Amesh Edireweera.
What drives us to escape silence? In a moment of relaxation, two people unwittingly engage. Spontaneous, unaffected and thrillingly real, innocent discussion becomes an exploration of private fantasy, hidden anxiety, personal mythology, and the most inexplicable behavior. From the bar stool to the chaise lounge to the wading pool, Holiday is the journey of humanity’s simple complexities.
Richard Pyros has performed with Bell Shakespeare, Malthouse, Belvoir, National Theatre (London) and Sydney Theatre Company and his film and TV credits include Oscar nominated feature film, Hacksaw Ridge, Giri/Haji (Netflix/BBC), The Weekly (ABC), Fisk (ABC) and The Great (Hulu/Channel 4/Stan). Amesh Edireweera is best known for his work in the role of ‘Ajay’ opposite Tahar Rahim in Netflix/BBC series The Serpent. Don't miss this rare opportunity to see two local/global actors, at the top of their game, before they return to the UK.
