Wild Tongues Productions have taken artist submissions and collaborations over the past four months to display as an exhibition. Watch as we sit down with our artists to dig deeper into their 'creative cocoons' and nourish their artistic processes. Glass Cocoons, the short film, invites and contributes to the ongoing discussion of what we, the community, see as our ‘cocoon’. What holds us back? What gives us comfort? What pushes us forward? Is it loving, nurturing and soft, this cocoon? Is it a safe space, or a place where things get lost? Maybe it is overwhelming or claustrophobic.
Although the exhibition began with a strong focus on the subject matter of Womxn in society (especially through an eco-feminist lens), who are in many ways trapped in a 'glass cocoon', it now reaches beyond this, to the very heart of human experience during isolation. Artists across the globe have reached out and submitted work to inspire this documentary. Led by and with unaltered live music recording and dance captures from Samantha Hafey and Allira Ewin.
This project is amplified by a Monash University Centre for Theatre and Performance Microgrant.
