Deep Soulful Sweats presents Rhinestone Whispers for Club Fringe, the sister of 2022 smash-hit Fringe event Crystal Touch (Coburg RSL). Participants find themselves in a karaoke, hoedown, line-dance, rave in DSS’s first ever club night.

Harking back to the social dances and town halls of yesteryear, Rhinestone Whispers nostalgically recalls deeply ingrained muscle memories from primary school dances. Footwork patterns will be comprehensively taught and danced together on repeat to an ever-evolving Karaoke soundtrack sung by you. The group choreography changes form and tempo over the evening. In an accelerating marathon-like loop, the heel and toe becomes foxtrot becomes pop, becomes house, becomes gabber.

If you’re not into dancing, you can pick up the mic and contribute to the ever-evolving karaoke soundtrack with some live singing. If that’s not your vibe, you can throw back a shot or sip on a cold beer and “Yee Haw” from the corner.

Part dance lesson, part bush dance, part dance marathon, Deep Soulful Sweats encourages everyone to kick up their heels give it a go - creating an inclusive spectacle, without spectators. Participants can come and go as they please, dropping in and out to rest, drink, leave and return.

This project received Cash to Create through the Fringe Fund.
