How can you talk about the system from inside the system? Steve Lambert’s cheeky public installation about Capitalism is having a heroic end to its Australian tour that started at Festival of Live Art in March and ends at Melbourne Fringe. In this daring work, artist and agitator Lambert turns the red flag of capitalism into a public provocation – inviting you, the people, to approach his large LED-lit scoreboard sign with a critical mind, an open heart, a voice for discusion and one job to do: vote. The scoreboard keeps track of the answers, but under capitalism: who wins? Creating a space where we can evaluate, critique and pick apart the global economy, Lambert opens up discussions about the way capitalism affects us all. This is street-art at its most democratic. Does capitalism work for you? Well, does it?
