Take flight with a party inspired by the Queer Aboriginal stories of the dancing Brolga. Dance your feathers off with Indigenous headliners Dameeeela, NAYCAB (Nayuka Gorrie), Kalyani, the Joel Bray Dance dancers and reigning Miss First Nations Queen Cerulean. Supported by an incredible QPOC line-up Stev Zar, Ata2ud and Aqueerius.

For one night only Brolga will transform The Substation into a psychedelic Queer Koori Wonderland, cramming every nook and cranny with art, film, interactive games and Naarm’s best Queer performers, including Luke George, Bendy Ben, Dandrogyny and many more.

Different mobs have different Brolga stories. Some tell of a boy who only wanted to dance the women's dances, and so the Ancestors transformed him into the Brolga so he could dance for eternity. Others speak of a young woman who defied a ban on women dancing and who refused to marry a man. This party, a reimagined contemporary gathering ground, celebrates the Queers and the Trans folk in our communities.

WHAT TO EXPECT

DJs, dancing, art, film, interactive games and pop-up performances across all three levels of The Substation!
This is an 18+ event
ID and bags will be checked at the door
No outside alcohol allowed
There will be a cloakroom for jackets and bags
All toilets are gender neutral. Accessible toilets are located on the Ground floor and Level 2
No vaping or smoking inside. Please consider other partygoers. Anyone vaping or smoking inside will be asked to leave
There will be security guards at the event and on the door. Their role is to ensure everyone's safety and assist if needed
There will be Dancefloor Angels roaming around the party, keeping an eye out for everyone. If you feel unsafe or want to provide feedback at any time, please chat to an Angel

Visitors may enter The Substation using the ramp or stairs at the main entrance. There is a lift on the ground floor, to the left of the foyer, providing access to levels 1 and 2.
