Legally blind photographer Kristan Emerson has been shooting the world on his overseas travels since 2016. On their own the photographs are beautiful - but consider the photographer has only 3% vision in just one eye and you won't believe what he can capture.
"My eyes don't have lenses but my camera does. It is my way of seeing detail in an otherwise blurry world."
Blurry Borders features images from Pakistan, Myanmar and India. The photographs were not taken with gallery walls in mind but as a way for Kristan to see and experience the world via photography.
Kristan has had to learn to see differently so the free exhibition will take place outdoors at Readings Carlton as a way for others to see and experience art differently.
The photographs are accompanied by unique stories of the places Kristan has visited and have been audio described to promote accessibility and inclusion.
"Blind people can take photographs, Deaf people can dance and those who can't speak might just be able to tell you the best story you've never heard."
