'All Our Secrets Are the Same' is a sculptural installation by Charlotte Watson. Informed by psychoanalysis and the Gothic sublime, the exhibition condenses the space in which relationships are made or lost, and considers how personal histories are transferred between generations.
Referencing the dramatic landscape of Otago, New Zealand, Watson draws parallels between the unspoken parts of ourselves, and the geographical amphitheatres that lay witness to our secrets. Focussing on memory, time and place, 'All Our Secrets Are the Same' explores the idea that the landscape, despite its indifference, is capable of memory.
